Ambode’s Commissioners’ List Is Mediocre, Self-Serving And Embarrassing – PDP

The Lagos state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has picked holes with the commissioners list recently unveiled by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

According to National Mirror, the PDP said the list is filled with individuals who have been nominated outside competency.

In a release issue and signed by its publicity secretary, Barr. Taofik Gani, the PDP urged the Lagos state House of Assembly to re­ject the list, adding that the legislators should take out the names of persons who the party says will be a liability in the cabinet.

Parts of the statement read: ”The list reflects imposition of personal assistants, relatives, friends, thereby exposing the gov­ernor as not independent minded, a hapless situation inimical to genuine development of the state.

”Thus, it will continue to be business as usual in the governance of the state as the state resources will continue to be superintendent by the former governor who is the incumbent governor’s god father.

”We are disappointed in the governor for producing an eventual commis­sioners’ list that is just a recycle of persons who had done very poorly in their previous responsibilities as commissioners, Council chairmen. This list is so mediocre, self serving, embarrassing, that it cannot justify the delay and waste of days. Lagosians should not expect any change from Ambode. By this list, his hands are tied. He will only succeed to the extent that his godfather allows this list to serve La­gosians”.

Meanwhile, the screening of the list which comprises 23 commissioners and 13 special advisers will commence this week while cleared cabinet members would likely be sworn in to resume the task of governance by Monday, October 5.

In a related development, the governor has appointed Mr. Olufolarin Ogunsanwo as the new chairman, of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS). Ogunsanwo’s appointment was confirmed by the Lagos state house of assembly on  September 22 on the request of the governor.

Just last week, the PDP said Ambode has been poor in the management of Lagos state and in decision making since taking over the rein of affairs in the state.
