The Lagos State police spokesperson, DSP  Joe Offor when contacted, said it was too early to comment on the kidnap.

“I don’t want to talk about this kidnap because we are investigating. We do not want to jeopardize the life of the boy and because if this gets out, the girl can escape,” he said.

It was learnt that the  mother of the boy went home to do her laundry and  was said to have left the child with her apprentice,  only for her to come back to the shop shortly after but could not find the apprentice or her son.

Following a report at the police station, officers attached to the Special Anti-robbery squad Ikeja have arrested a suspect, identified as Sunday Egebor over the kidnap of the toddler.

The kidnap was initially reported at the Tolu  police station at Ajegunle  but was later transferred to SARS Ikeja, who later took over the investigation.

The grand father of the abducted child, Mr. Anyobor Ogar while narrating how his grandson was abducted said: “Sunday Egeabor is a well known family friend. He was the one who brought Ayomide to my daughter as an apprentice.  He said he knew Ayomide at his former office at Apapa about two years ago. He said Ayomide was a cleaner in the company but they lost contact after then .
