Former Nigerian international, Benedict Iroha has questioned Sunday Oliseh’s decision to snub in-form Seattle Sounders striker Obafemi Martins for Super Eagles friendly against Cameroon and Congo in Belgium next month.
According to Iroha, Oliseh choice to leave out Obafemi Martins and invite Emmanuel Emenike for the friendly games is surprising.
Martins continued his impressive goal scoring form in the Major League Soccer (MLS) when he scored in Seattle Sounders’ 1-1 draw at Sporting Kansas City on Sunday, October 27, marking his 14th goal of the season.

Iroha believes he should have been given a call up based on his current form.
He said: “I think Obagoal still has a place in the Super Eagles. There is no doubt that the MLS is one of the top leagues in the world. I lived in the USA and I used to watch Martins on the field of play. Why did Oliseh invite Emmanuel Emenike and leave out Martins of the Cameroon and Congo friendly matches in Belgium next month?
“Obagoal has scored 14 goals this season. He is currently the leading goal scorer in Seattle. We shouldn’t rule out any player who is currently on form now just few months to the qualifiers of the World Cup and Nations Cup.”

Having scored against against Portland Timbers, Toronto, San Jose Earthquakes, Vancouver Whitecaps and Sporting KC, Obafemi Martins has been on a scoring spree since August 30.
If he scores in their next game against LA Galaxy, Martins would have scored in six straight games and set a new record in the MLS.
He is also 4 goals shy of beating his single – season scoring record of 17 goals which he set in the 2014 campaign.
