Buhari To Deliver First Independence Day Speech Tomorrow, Lists Agenda

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday, October 1, 2015, make a nationwide broadcast as part of the programme of activities to mark Nigeria’s 55th Independence Anniversary.

According to statement by the president’s, Femi Adesina,the broadcast scheduled to be aired from 7am by Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).


This would be first national broadcast by the president since he won the presidential election on March 28, 2015.


Top agenda expected in his speech would be the current war against insurgency, rescue of Chibok girls and anti-corruption war.

Buhari had reportedly approved about N70million for the celebration of this year’s Independence Day commemoration on October 1.


The president, who was said to be under pressure following the dwindling revenues of the country, could only approve the said amount for the Independence Day celebrations.
