Prominent Nigerians React To Gamaliel Onosode’s Death

Boardroom guru and former Nigeria’s presidential candidate of the All Nigeria’s People’s Party of Nigeria (ANPP), Chief Gamaliel Onosode, died at 8:15 a.m Tuesday, September 29 as announced by his son, Ese Onosode, in a statement.



A leading player in Nigeria’s corporate environment, Onosode’s giant strides in the private and public sectors are well documented.


President Muhammadu Buhari has described the late Onosode as a colossus in Nigeria’s private sector, who also excelled in public service on various occasions.


Also reacting to the death of Onosode, the Peoples Democratic Party said Onosode was a great Nigerian and a highly respected statesman who contributed in no small way to Nigeria’s political development.


Former Ogun state governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, said: ”Pa Onosode recorded landmark achievements in bringing sanity and disciplined approach to public finance”.


Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode said: “He will be remembered for the dexterity he brought to bear when he served as chairman and board member of several multinational companies”.


Former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, described Onosode as a true symbol of integrity, an outstanding patriot and an icon of the best of Nigeria’s national values.


Other prominent Nigerians who reacted to Onosode’s death are former minister of education; Mrs. Obiageli Ezekwesili, former minister of state for defence; Musiliu Obanikoro, media guru; Dele Momodu, PR expert; Chude Jideonwo, brand expert; Leke Alder and social media expert; Japheth Omojuwa.

Then late Onosode chaired private multinational companies like  Dunlop Nigeria Plc (1984–2007),  Cadbury Nigeria Plc (1977–93) and Zain Nigeria Limited.
