An octogenarian, Pa Adeola Ajidahun has defrauded one Kehinde Ola of about N50 million under the pretence that he had plots of land in the Lekki area of Lagos to sell to him.
PM News reports that after his arrest, the 88 year old man taunted his victim that he was only wasting his time by taking him to court as he may not live long to see the end of the court trial.

Ola claimed the old man told him there was no way he would be able to recover the money considering his old age and he could die anytime soon. The victim expressed fear of the possibility of the suspect’s prediction coming to pass due to the lengthy adjournments that have characterised the judiciary system.
Ajidahun who lived at 89 Karimu Laka street, Egbeda lied to Ola that he had been allocated portions of land in the Lekki area and even showed him fake documents to that effect. He then took Ola to an area in Lekki and claimed the land belonged to him.
Another victim is Tony Ezeoke also paid N10 million to the suspect for the same piece of land that belonged to another family.
Ajidahun was arrested after Ola wrote a petition to the Anti-Special Fraud Unit and was charged to court with conspiracy and other fraud related charges.

The presiding judge granted him bail in the sum N500, 000 with two sureties who must show evidence of tax payment for three years and remanded him in Ikoyi prison pending his fulfilment of the bail term. The case was adjourned till Wednesday, October 14.
In a related incident, a man was arrested and arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for being in possession of documents that showed he supplied crude oil to an American.
