President Muhammadu Buhari has sent his condolences to the family of Gamaliel Onosode, who pases away at the age of 82 this Tuesday, September 29.
The president in a statement read by his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, commiserated with the government, people of Delta state, and the Nigerian Baptist Convention on the death of the man he described as an “illustrious son and evangelist.”
He described late Onosode as a colossus in Nigeria’s private sector, who also excelled in public service on various occasions.
“President Buhari believes that Mr. Onosode will be long remembered as an exemplary citizen and leader who made very significant contributions to national development,” the statement read.
“The President urges his family, friends, associates and other Nigerians to honour Mr. Onosode’s memory by upholding the virtues of integrity, honesty and dedication to service, which he passionately promoted in his long and highly successful career in the private and public sectors.
“He prays that God Almighty will comfort all who mourn the late Onosode and grant his soul eternal rest,” Femi Adesina added.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) also has expressed its heartbreak over the loss of a former presidential aspirant, Gamaliel Onosode. “Onosode was a great Nigerian and a highly respected statesman who contributed in no small way to Nigeria’s political development,” a press statement by the party’s national publicity secretary said.
