PHOTOS: 50 Boko Haram Orphans Leave On Scholarship For Secondary Education

The Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima has sent 50 orphans on scholarship for secondary school education at Zaria Academy.



The students became orphans following Boko Haram attacks in the state.

They were hosted to a farewell by Governor Shettima on Tuesday, September 29 in Maiduguri.

The fifty girls were sent on scholarship for secondary school education at Zaria Academy.



The 50 girls were selected from different communities across Borno State which came under attacks at different times.


‎At the farewell ceremony, Shettima announced that more children orphaned by insurgents would be sponsored to pursue their great dreams to become part of Borno’s best brains in future.

Borno state has been one of the most affected since Boko Haram insurgency started. Last year April, over 200 female students were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok. Some of the girls managed to escape later and till date the others are yet to be found.
