Traditional and religious leaders in Kaduna state have been asked by authorities of the One Division of the Nigerian Army, to monitor the movements of people in their communities.
Speaking on Monday, September 28 at a meeting with the leaders in Kaduna, the general officer commanding, Maj-General Adeninyi Oyebade said they must be watchful so they can foil the activities of members of the Boko Haram terrorist sect, who are currently being chased out of their hiding places, Punch reports.
According to the commanding officer, the meeting was aimed at finding ways of collaborating with the leaders on how to fish out the fleeing insurgents that might seek refuge in their midst.
He said it became necessary to speak with the community and religious leaders following the intensified onslaught on the insurgents which has left them confused and in disarray.

“It is in the news the fast gains we are making in finishing the Boko Haram menace in the North-East. The terrorists are being beaten in dizzying succession and I have every confidence, God willing, that we shall end the insurgency before the end of this year,” he said.
