SEE Who Has Joined Those Defending Buhari For His Delay In Appointing Ministers

A member of the seventh House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele, has spoken in defence of President Muhammadu Buhari over his delay in the appointment of ministers.



According to Bamidele, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, the president was taking his time to pick people who have integrity and have the ability of driving his vision of bringing the expected change in the country, The Nation reports.

Bamidele disclosed this on Wednesday, July 29, at a thanksgiving service and prayer session to mark his 52nd birthday in Iyin Ekiti.


Bamidele, who spoke through the director general of his campaign crganization, Ropo Ige, said: “President Buhari must learn from the past mistakes. Looking at what happened in the last few years, he has to take his time to avert mistakes.


“He must take time and look at the characters of those he will work with. Some of these appointees will be recommended to him and he has to study them because he has not worked with them before.


“He has to scrutinize and ascertain that they are men of integrity who can really fight corruption.”

The lawmaker also faulted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others who were criticising the president, accusing him of being “slow and clueless.”


The birthday was celebrated by members of Bamidele’s political family, Ekiti Bibiire Coalition.



Since Buhari’s inauguration on May 29, Nigerians have been patiently waiting for him to appoint ministers. The President has however, said he was not in hurry to make such an important decision.


According to the president, he would appoint his ministers in September. He had said: “When cabinet ministers are appointed in September, it will be some months after I took the oath of office. It is worth noting that Obama himself did not have his full Cabinet in place for several months after first taking office; the United States did not cease to function in the interim.”
