IMPORTANT: NAF Reconsiders Strategy Against Boko Haram

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) official said on Friday, July 31, in Kaduna that the body was rebuilding strategy to eliminate Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast.


According to Vanguard, Air Vice Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, the acting chief of air stuff, noted that restrategising meant to ensure that officers and force staff were exposed to current training obtainable around the world. He added that the NAF would enhance its research capability by bringing its experts from 15 national universities to partner with the organization.


Despite some currently experienced challenges, the NAF is able to deal with them, the official said. The body was reassessing itself in order to ensure effective fight against terrorism.

“We recognise that no system is perfect. So, we are re-strategising ‎and part of it is to build the capacity of our personnel so that they will be able to handle the maintenance of our airplanes and issues that have to do with the sensibility of airplanes.


“I agree with you that there are some challenges but with the help of the federal government ‎they are going to get sorted out. We are reassessing what we have done so far; what we need to do additionally in order to make NAF more effective in dealing with the problems in the northeastern states.”


Earlier this week the Air Force announced that their pilots had blocked Boko Haram fuel route along the borderline with Cameroon thus greatly straining the supply efforts of the insurgents.


However, today the news broke about the bombing of Gamboru market in Maiduguri, Borno state capital. Many people are feared dead in the explosion, with the official figure yet to be provided.
