US Embassy Opens Up The Accident That Almost Claimed Akpabio’s Life

The United States Embassy in Abuja has confirmed the involvement of one of its cars in the accident that involved the convoy of former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio.

According to Premium Times,  a Senior Information Specialist in the embassy, Sani Mohammed said the embassy was already cooperating with relevant security authorities in the country to investigate the incident.

“A US Embassy vehicle was involved in the accident,” Mr. Mohammed said. “We are staying in touch with local authorities who are investigating the matter.”


Reports further said that as at 4.30 p.m., the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, who arrived the hospital at 12.25p.m., was still inside the ward where his predecessor was being treated.


Other functionaries who visited the former governor in hospital included the member representing Akwa Ibom North-East at the Senate, Bassey Albert; the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Aniekan Uko, among others.



Meanwhile, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris Abdul, the former governor of Kogi state, also escaped death in a terrible car accident today.
