The war of words between the former and the incumbent governors of Rivers state continues. This time Rotimi Amaechi fires back.
In one of the developments the ex governor accused Nyesom Wike of having been involved in corruption. He made a claim while addressing his loyalists in Port Harcourt on Saturday, August 29, Vanguard reports. Amaechi insisted he had documents proving his point. He therefore refused to appear before the Justice George Omereji Commission of Inquiry investigating his immediate past government.
“I have been listening while in Abuja to Nyesom Wike accusing me of corruption and I laugh. Even Nyesom Wike knows that I don’t like money, he knows that.
“The pressure Wike is putting on us is to let somebody call us together to a meeting to withdraw our case challenging his election from court. The party has a right to go to court. The law of Nigeria says there is no independent candidate. Even if I, Amaechi, Peterside withdraw, APC will carry on with the case.

“The funny thing about the young man is that he knows I know him. I was his governor, I have documents to show that he is a contractor. I am not a thief; so I don’t know what this young man is talking about.”
PM News adds Amaechi also hinted that his successor might have converted from Islam to Christianity saying Wike used to “pose as a Muslim”. Accusing the acting governor of insincerity, he said:
“At the start of government, as chief of staff, he wore long robes posing as a Muslim, today, he is going on bended knees in churches, let me tell you, don’t take God for granted.
“The funny thing is that he knows that I know him, we are ready for them.”
