NAF Crushes Two Boko Haram Supply Trucks

The Nigerian Air Force has destroyed two trucks likely used by Boko Haram insurgents for items supply in the northeast.

Daily Trust made this known with reference to the statement by Air Commodore Dele Alonge issued in the early hours of Sunday, August 30:

“Two trailers suspected to be carrying logistics support to members of the Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) sect have been intercepted and destroyed.”

He further disclosed that the vehicles had been destroyed by the NAF Agusta helicopter on armed reconnaissance mission around the Nigeria-Cameroon border. The official added that the recent operation had been led by the chief of the air staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who coordinated various platforms to provide maximum support to the ground forces headed by Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.

Although a NAF aircraft was hit and damaged during the operation, the pilot managed to direct it back to the base.

“However the pilot was able to successfully fly the helicopter back to base to land. The affected aircraft has since been repaired and is back to the theater of operation.”

Another successful operation against the dreaded sect was recorded earlier this week as the Department of State Service foiled the plan by Boko Haram militants to bomb the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The terrorists used a 14-year-old boy to gather information for launching the attack. The teenager was, however, arrested inside the airport.
