“This operation is a continuous one. We are saddled with the responsibility to instill discipline into erring individuals to prevent lives and properties. This is why we can’t fold our arms seeing many lives being lost for not using the bridges”, the RRS commander ACP Olatunji Disu said.

“This act of indiscipline will not be allowed in Lagos any longer. If traffic is allowed to flow freely, the menace of in-traffic robbery cases will become thing of the past”, the Police source said.

A resident Mrs. Remi Fagboungbo, expressed satisfaction towards the exercise, urging the operatives not to relent in making sure people‘s attitude to the use of pedestrian bridge change.

“The overhead bridge is built to protect our lives. I wonder why people refuse to use it. In recent time, a commercial bus driver knocked down a young man on this highway when he wanted to cross from other side of the road. This exercise must continue because it will help a lot in reducing deaths on highways and allow free-flow of traffic”, she said.

On his path, another resident, Mr. Alonge Ajasa thanked the state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, for acting on time in curbing this act of indiscipline from the people.

“This is indeed the change-time in this country. This exercise will in turn be beneficial to the citizenry if it continues this way. Our governor has really done well to prevent loss of lives on our highways as well as to ease vehicular movements,” Ajasa noted.
