Lopsided Appointments: Former Rep Member Begs For Buhari

Dr Nya Asuquo has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari over his recent appointments which has been adjudged by some as favoring the north.



Vanguard reports that Asuquo made this appeal during his 67 birthday ceremony on Sunday, August 30 in Calabar.

The former house of representatives member said there were still over 5000 important appointment yet to be made and that the seeming tilt of appointment towards the north would soon be balanced when these appointment are made. He expressed his optimism that other regions would soon benefit from the appointments too.


“There are over 5,000 appointments yet to be made. Nigerians should be patient with the president for he will make a balance in no distance time.


“As president, people will always criticise your actions and inaction. Nigerians should not judge Buhari by the few appointments he has made.


“There will be ministers, heads of government department, federal boards, advisers and others”.


He said the Buhari led government was already recording significant success especially in the area of recovering the nation’s stolen loot and urged those who have been appointed to give maximum service and not see their position as an opportunity to loot the country’s money.

He added that the military was gaining the upper hand in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram.


“In fact, the military has almost made the Boko Haram insurgents to look insignificant and the president has given them three months to end Boko Haram,” he said.



Meanwhile, a group has defended the latest appointments of President Buhari, stating that emphasis was on competence and not the region the individuals were from.
