Politicians, Activist Point Out Errors In Buhari’s Ministerial List

Reactions have continued to trail President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial list which was submitted to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Wednesday, September 30.

Chieftains of some opposition political parties and activists are not too impressed with the ministerial list which according to them falls short of expectation.

Some expressed doubt that the president was committed to fighting corruption with the caliber of the people he intended to appoint as ministers.

The presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party in the last general elections, Chief Martin Onovo wondered why Buhari took so long in appointing ministers when he knew that he would still nominate those who had integrity and moral questions to answer.

On his part, the Labour Party National Secretary, Kayode Ajulo said the ministerial fell short of the expectation of many Nigerians because those whose names were there had nothing to offer. He added that there was no difference in the Buhari’s ministerial nominees and the former ministers who served under the defeated Peoples Democratic Party.

Likewise, a rights activist and political analyst, Olawale Famurewa, like Ajulo, said he and many other Nigerians would be disappointed if Buhari failed to appoint people with clean records after many months of waiting.

However, Najeemdeen Haruna, a sociologist is of the opinion that Buhari made the right choice as he must have studied and selected them among equally competent other citizens.

Details on Punch.
