Oscar-winning Kenya actress and film director, Lupita Nyong’o is presently in her home country Kenya.
She is one of Wild Aid’s Global Ambassadors and she has joined in the campaign against the poaching of elephants for ivory.
The dress won by the global sensation at her first event is a gorgeous adire dress designed by Lagos-based designer, Amaka Osakwe of Maki Oh designs.
Amaka Osakwe’s Maki Oh’s designs have also been seen on Solange Knowles and Veronica Gledhill, former Vogue magazine fashion editor.
Amaka Osakwe is a Nigerian born fashion designer and creator Maki Oh label which she started in 2010 specializing in women’s wear.

Her label is one of the few from Nigeria that is globally acknowledged.

Last year, Amaka’s label, Maki.Oh got an invitation from America First Lady, Mitchell Obama, to be present at the ‘Celebration of Designs’ held at the White House on October 8.
Maki.Oh works mainly with adire, a locally design material that is traditional to the Egba people of Ogun state.
