President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Nigeria is close to ending attacks from Boko Haram.
Buhari made this statement in Abuja on July 8, Wednesday, despite recent attacks by the group in some parts of the North.
The statement was issued by the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu.
The President issued this statement while conveying his sincere and heartfelt condolences to all Nigerians who lost relations in the latest terrorist attacks in Jos, Kano, and Zaria.

Buhari noted that already, intensified military raids on terrorists’ strongholds had led to significant seizures of weapons and vehicles, a blockage of their sources of arms and ammunition and a vanquishing of their fighting men.
The President assured Nigerians of the ability and readiness of the armed forces and security agencies to contain the “ frantic resort by the terrorists to attacks on soft targets, such as crowds and places of worship.’’
Meanwhile, negotiators of boko haram have issued a statement that spells out the terms upon which they will be willing to return the Chibok girls.
It must be recalled that on the night of April 14, 2014, 276 female students were kidnapped by Boko haram from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno State, Nigeria.
