Barely six-week after Liberia achieved Ebola-free status by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the country has lost this status an new case has been confirmed on Tuesday.
WHO spokesperson, Tarik Jasarevic, said a new case was confirmed in the country. The new case was traced to a dead person but luckily the deceased was buried in such a way that prevents further infections.
“The case showed that Liberia’s surveillance system is working and that even dead people were being tested. If there are no further cases, it will take another 42 days to declare Liberia free of Ebola again,” he asserted.
