Fashola Alerts Public About ‘Fake Fashola’

The immediate past governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, has alerted members of the public about fake Facebook accounts opened by some fraudulent persons in his name.

The scam accounts are said to feature the photographs of the former governor in addition to issuing fictitious statement credited to him, Leadership reports.

In a bid to save unsuspecting victims from falling prey to the activities these fraudsters, Fashola in a statement yesterday June 29, by his special adviser on media, Mr. Hakeem Bello, dissociated himself from such account.


He warned the public to ignore the fraudsters who use these accounts in urging people to apply for some government facilities meant to benefit the public, but to which some agencies of government have been given the responsibility to manage.

He urged people to always verify before having dealings with agencies of government at all levels, advising them to report such fraudsters to the proper authorities for prosecution.



This is not the first time fake social media accounts will be opened in the name of prominent persons, sometime in February, former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, had to deny the ownership of a Twitter or Facebook account after such accounts were used to spread fictitious  statements in his name.
