FINALLY! NIS Arrests Individuals Who Helped ISIS Terrorist Get Nigerian Passport

The Nigeria Immigration Service has arrested two accomplices of Ahmed Al Assir, the Lebanese terrorist who obtained a Nigerian visa in Beruit, Lebanon, The Punch reports.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Martin Abeshi

Martin Abeshi, the comptroller-general of immigration, said Assir’s accomplices were arrested in Kano state the moment NIS learnt that the terrorist was visiting Nigeria.

He said they had been handed over to the National Security Adviser for further investigation.

Assir, who had been on the wanted list of the Lebanese security forces, was arrested at the airport while attempting to visit Cairo, Egypt, enroute to Nigeria on a forged Palestinian passport.

The comptroller-general of immigration stated this while responding to questions from newsmen on Wednesday, September 30, in Abuja.

He said: “The Immigration service did not issue the visa to the Lebanese terrorist because we don’t have immigration officers at the embassy. Maybe the visa was issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials or some other officials, but the moment we learnt about the incident, we identified the people the suspect was coming to visit in Kano and they were handed over to the NSA.”

Abeshi also stated that he had prepared a document on border control and security management which would be presented to the federal government for approval and implementation.

The NIS boss described Nigeria’s border control method as archaic, adding that he planned to deploy sensors and security cameras across the country’s international borders.

Abeshi has warned his men against passport racketeering, adding that his administration would not condone extortion and other sharp practices.

Meanwhile Ahmad Al-Assir, the Lebanese terrorist came to Nigeria on the invitation of a foreign company operating in the country.

Insiders in Nigeria’s security circles said the visa was issued by a foreign service official (name withheld) in Beirut based on that invitation.
