BBOG Group Urges FG To Investigate Alleged Sabotage Of Army Operations

The #BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) group has urged the federal government, the Nigerian military and other security forces to investigate and prosecute the alleged sabotage of the military’s fight against the Boko Haram sect.

Leadership reports that Oby Ezekwesili, the leader of the group, made the call speaking at the BBOG sit-out on Wednesday, September 30.


Ezekwesili recalled the recent reports, which alleged that some Borno state leaders were planning to undermine and scuttle the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the country.


These reports started making the rounds in the media after the Nigerian army send a final warning to some individuals and political groups who hail from Borno state.

A statement made by Sani Usman, the army spokesman, read in part:


“The unscrupulous individuals and their cohorts were determined to reverse the gains made and scuttle our efforts of achieving the presidential directive to defeat Boko Haram terrorists within three months. They are enlisting the services of some non-governmental organisations in this grand design.


“It has come to our knowledge that they were employing every means to see that the operation does not succeed in order for them to continue to enjoy certain benefits.”


Ezekwesili noted that such kind of statements were really enough reasons for people to feel scared and worry. Therefore, she called on the government and Nigerian army to launch proper and full investigation into the matter.

Earlier this week, during another sit-out at the Unity Fountain in Abuja, the BBOG group praised the federal government and President Muhammadu Buhari for their various efforts to rid the nation of Boko Haram and win the war against terrorism.


Meanwhile,  Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, the chief of army staff, has restated the military’s commitment to end the activities of the Boko Haram sect.
