Former governor of Kano state, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, has denied the rumour that loyalists of the former president Goodluck Jonathan have abandoned him.

The former education minister said this while avowing his loyalty to the Jonathan.
The ex- governor said this on Wednesday, September 24, 2015, while speaking with journalists at the Abuja National Stadium.

“No, you see, all of us who worked with Jonathan are still intact with him. We are still with Jonathan we cannot abandon him because, as our leader, he has played his part in the development of the country. We don’t need to publicise our meetings with him in our private capacity,” Shekarau said.
“We have done our bit and we have taken a retreat to plan ahead, and prepare for the next competition in which Nigerians will judge. PDP will bounce back, it is like a force button which has given us the opportunity to reorganise for future elections and get back our mandate,” he concluded.
President Muhammadu Buhari who contested on the platform of the All Progressive Party (APC) defeated Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the polls bringing to an end the 16-year rule of the PDP. After his defeat, Jonathan was once quoted to have said his friends had deserted him even before he vacated office for the new president.
