DSS Besieges PDP National Secretariat

Officials of the Department of State Security Services on Monday besieged the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

This is in connection with the crisis that ensued between the national leadership and staff of the party over plans to reduce the staff strength, salaries and allowances by 50%.

The DSS officials reportedly arrived the secretariat, Wadata Plaza, as early as 9am to prevent breakdown of law and order.

Speculating a protest from the aggrieved workers, they reportedly stayed for over 30 minutes while the directors and leaders of the aggrieved workers had a meeting to broker peace.

According to Vanguards’ report, they also went round the premises of the secretariat and finally went to the National Executive Committee, NEC meeting hall before they finally left perhaps with the assurances that all was under control.
