APC Will Soon Be In The Minority — PDP Reps

A Peoples Democratic Party federal lawmaker, representing Ojo Federal constituency of Lagos, southwest Nigeria, Tajudeen Obasa, has said that his party in the 8th Assembly is not going to be a tea party adding that he and his colleagues will work hard and see how they will turn the PDP to the majority party in the House.

Obasa who said this during an interview with our correspondent, assures that lot of things are currently going on underground between the opposition party and the ruling party.

“All eyes are on us, the PDP members, because we are in the minority. I have told my constituents that they will bear with us. After the inauguration, within six months, the voice will be heard everywhere. The 8th Assembly will not be a tea party. We are going there to work and meet the expectations of our constituencies.

“However, we will see how we will turn the minority to the majority. The All Progressives Congress (APC) started from the Alliance for Democracy (AD) then to Action Congress (AC) and to Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and now APC. For 16 years, it was in opposition. It has now become the majority party. We will not release our own plans, but the Assembly will be fantastic. We are one and for one Nigeria, irrespective of the party differences. But expect to see a lot from the PDP lawmakers,” he averred.

The first term lawmaker said that the PDP will run a strong opposition in the parliament as well tell the APC that they have vibrant hands within their fold.

“We are going to run a strong opposition in the parliament there. Secondly, we want to tell them that they don’t know how to run the opposition. They have been in the minority before but presently, we are going to make sure minority becomes the majority in 2019. And as it is, we want to tell them that there are vibrant hands within the PDP and so shall it be,” he boasted.

“The future of PDP is much brighter than before. A political party can decide to stop bearing the name and form another party by changing the name and so it depends on the situation. In politics, you don’t have permanent enemies or permanent friends.

“Your enemy today can be your best friend tomorrow. For instance, Obasanjo and Tinubu in those days were enemies, but today have become political pals,” he said.

Meanwhile, the PDP has described as a show of shame and national embarrassment that the APC members in the House of Representatives were on Thursday, June 25, engaged in fighting among themselves.
