5. Weigh Yourself

As a pregnant woman, being over or underweight can severely affect you, your baby while in the womb and even your health after delivering. When your weight is below average as a pregnant woman, your ovulation can be affected while adding more weight puts you up for high blood pressure and diabetes. Being the right weight also means you will be in better shape after the baby comes.

4. Review Your Medicines

Do you have allergies? Do you have drugs you take to combat them? What pill do you naturally take when you feel fever is close by? How do you combat pain? It is however very important to let you know that some of these drugs you use to take care of pains, allergies and fever can be harmful to your baby. Let your doctor prescribe new set of drugs for you in place of the harmful ones. Also, when you are pregnant, the days of self prescription should be put on hold for the sake of the innocent baby inside of you.

3. Go See Your Dentist

A poor dental hygiene can open up the pathway to bacterial infections, which can lead to preeclampsia (a disorder that occurs only during pregnancy and in the post-partum period). Also, since you can’t get an X-ray after you’re pregnant, grab this chance to catch anything that needs to be fixed right away. Go see your dentist!

2. Renovate

Being pregnant is an amazing thing. Everything changes in 9 months….that is why you need to paint the walls you’ve been wanting to paint, do some home repairs and all before deciding to be pregnant. Paint, furniture polish, pesticides and harsh cleaners contain chemicals that are linked to birth defects. So the fumes are poisonous to be around when you are pregnant already… Do it now!

1. ‘Up’ Your Folic Acid

Vitamin B protects. It also lowers the risk of birth defects such as spina bifida, which form very early on in the foetus – sometimes even before you know you are pregnant. So doctors advise eating a lot of spinach, other leafy greens and cereals to make sure you get enough of it. Check with your doc about whether you need to take supplements.
