#NigeriaAt55: Events To Attend On This Independence Day

As part of the activities to celebrate Nigeria’s 55th Independence Day anniversary, Naij.com brings you a list of some of the events slated to hold during the the independence day holiday.



Urban Music Fiesta


The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria, (PMAN) has announced plans of a music festival aimed at celebrating the urban lifestyle of the city of excellence, Lagos State. Billed to hold at Freedom Park, Lagos, the event is slated for October 1, 2015 to mark Nigeria’s Independence day.


The ‘Urban Music Festival’ is billed to have some of Nigeria’s finest music stars such as 2face Idibia, Patoranking, Yemi Alade, Sir Shina Peters, M.I, Dammy Krane, Jesse Jagz, Phyno, Terry G, Sunny Neji, Vector, Illbliss, General Pype, Falz, among several others lined up for the event.

House On The Rock, US Embassy Premiere Paramount Pictures’ Captive’ In Lagos


Metropolitan church, House on the Rock, in partnership with the United States Embassy in Nigeria to screen for the first time in Nigeria, the all-new 2015 movie, Captive is produced by top global production company, Paramount Pictures at the Rock Cathedral Auditorium, Lekki-Epe expressway on Thursday, October 1, 2015.


The screening of Captive is aimed at further promoting peace, nation building and the development of minds and purpose towards achieving the Nigeria of our dreams.


Omoni Oboli premieres new movie, The First Lady


‘The First Lady, will be showing in cinemas across the country from September 30, after the premiere at the Silverbird Galleria in Victoria Island, Lagos.


The First Lady’ is the story of a girl named Michelle (Omoni Oboli) who became a prostitute for her guy named Obama (Alex Ekubo), she became so engrossed in it until she met a man she loved named Kelechi (Joseph Benjamin and Chinedu Ikedieze). The events that surround their love is intriguing. One of the interesting parts of the movie is seeing Chinedu Ikedieze and Joseph Benjamin played the same role; the transition between the diminutive Chinedu Ikedieze and obviously tall Joseph Benjamin was artistically done and earned the commendation of few critics who have seen the movie.

Empress Njamah Holds Charity Ball


Empress will be celebrating with children from Christ Foundation Orphanage, Treasure Orphanage, Alpha and Omega Good Shepard, Gwagwalada and Shining Star Orphanage, in Abuja.


The event which is set to hold later today at her residence in Gwarimpa, Abuja will not only have the less privileged children in attendance but have friends, family and colleagues present.

Third Edition Of The Independence Beach Carnival


Felix Duke is holding the third edition of the Independence Beach Carnival on October 3, 2015, at the Elegushi Beach. Stars expected to be there are Kiss Daniel, Small Doctor, CDQ, 9ice, Joel, Ruggedman, Durella, YQ and many other acts.

Warri will come alive on Thursday, October 1, 2015, for a new talent show called Warri’Us. Warri’Us, a show focused on music, is a platform to give youths in the area the opportunity to showcase their talent to a large audience. It is no doubt that Warri is blessed with talents, which is evident in comedy, music and movie industries in Nigeria.


Organiser of the event, Mitaire ‘Mimi’ Okumagba, who doubles as the founder of the famous Autoserve Entertainment Centre in Warri, all finalists will also go home with consolation prizes.
