The yesterday’s incident in Ilorin, Kwara state capital, when Senate President Bukola Saraki was said to have been stoned by angry mob, generated a lot of reactions among social media users.
It was reported that the politician had been pelted with stones and pure water sachets upon his arrival in the city for Eid al-Adha prayers.
However, the Red Chamber head dismissed the reports speaking through his media aide, without denying the fact of demonstration, however:
“We want to say that nothing can be further from the truth as the Senate President was never attacked nor was there any attempt made on his life to warrant him being ‘whisked away’ as reported by a section of the media.”
A lot of users mocked Saraki’s excuses insisting that the development was too evident for hiь to deny it. The others simply expressed disappointment with the situation noting it was not the kind of change they had expected from the new officials.
See some of the tweets below:
Saraki is getting fond of suppressing Justice with lies. Atleast he should CONFESS of being stoned so that Police can arrest more protesters

It should be recalled that the demonstration occurred amid the corruption trial ongoing against the Senate president. Saraki is accused of misusing public funds during his Kwara governorship term.
