The town of Ijebu Ode stood still today, September 26, as dignitaries from all works of life trooped into the town in their numbers to join the indigenes to celebrate the annual Ojude Oba Festival.
The festival which is fast becoming Nigeria’s most attended festival, is annually hosted by the paramount ruler of Ijebu land, His Royal Majesty, the Awujale of the Ijebu Kingdom, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
The event which took placeat the Dipo Dina International Stadium opposite the Oba’s palace, was filled with traditional dance, cultural displays and colourful attires of the participants.
As usual, all the groups and families goes round the venue acknowledging cheers from the people before mounting the podium to pay homage to Oba Adetona.
The event was graced by prominent Nigerians which include the Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson, Ogun state deputy governor, Mrs. Yetunde Abosede Onanuga, former Ogun state governor, Gbenga Daniel, former Bayelsa state governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, Elder states man, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, former senators, Olurunimbe Mamora, Olabyi Durojaiye (Ijebu indigene) and Daisy Danjuma, Billionaires Oskar Ibru, Olorogun Dr. Sunny Kuku, who is an indigene of Ijebu land and Otunba Subomi Balogun.
