Mama HID Awolowo Was A Special Woman – IGP Arase

Solomon Arase, the inspector general of police has described late Mrs Hannah Awolowo as a special woman who had served God, mankind and Nigeria diligently in all areas.

He said that Mama was an icon and blessing to this country.

The police boss said this when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo in Ikenne, Ogun state to commiserate with the family on the death of Mama HID Awolowo, who passed on Saturday 19th September.

Among the officers who accompanied the Inspector of Police,IGP include the commissioner of police, Ogun state, CP Abdul Majid Ali, his Lagos state counterpart, CP Fatai Owoseni, commissioner of police, cooperatives, CP Dorathy Gimba, ACP Bisi Kolawole, the police force public relations officer,PPRO, AC Abiodun Alabi and others.

In a statement released on Sunday and signed by the Ogun state police command spokesman, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, he stated that the death of Mama HID has created a big vacuum that could only be filled by God almighty.

While welcoming the police boss at Ikenne, Rev Mrs. Omotola Oyediran, on behalf of the Awolowo dynasty, appreciated the inspector general of police, Solomon Arase and officers and men of the Police for their concern and support.

The IGP however promised the family of Awolowo adequate security before, during and after the burial rites of Mama HID Awolowo since all hands will be on deck for effective policing in the town and in Ogun State in general during the  ceremony.

Arase also reaffirmed the police commitment to tackle crimes and social vices in the country with a view to having people-oriented policing in the country.

Late Mrs. Hannah Awolowo died two months to her 100th birthday and almost 30 years after the death of her husband and former Premier of Nigeria’s Western Region, Obafemi Awolowo.

The matriarch of the Awolowo family, will be laid to rest on her 100th birthday Wednesday, November 25.
