Reverend Japhet Obafemi, the pastor with the main branch of the Apostolic Faith Church in Ikare Akoko, Akoko North local government area of Ondo state, has been abducted.

According to Sahara Reporters, the clergyman was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Friday, September 25, on the border between Ondo and Kogi states.
A source close to the situation revealed that the clergyman was seized and dragged into a parked vehicle along the road.
Worshipers in the church said that the 70-year-old pastor was initially declared missing but later police found out that he had been abducted on his way back home. According to junior pastor, the kidnappers already contacted members of the family and put forward their demands.
“The abductors have established contact with the family and even spoke to one of our members. They are demanding from us to pay six million before he could be set free,” he said.

Meanwhile, Oluwole Ogodo, the police spokesman in the state, confirmed the incident but added that details were still sketchy.
Musliyu Sogbade, the divisional police officer in charge of Ikare police station, noted that the division put machinery and materials in place to rescue the clergyman from his abductors.
It would be noted that yhe abduction of Obafemi came exactly 24 hours after the release of Olu Falae, the former secretary to the government of the federation.
Chief Falae was kidnapped on Monday, September 21, from his Ilado Farm in Akure North local government area of the state by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
