Governor Okorocha Suspends Two Perm Secs, Six Directors Over Alleged Fraud

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has suspended at least two permanent secretaries and six directors serving in the state Civil Service over alleged fraudulent activities.


This was disclosed in a recent report made available to Vanguard.

According to the report, one of the affected officials who allegedly defrauded the state government N45million, may be handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Control (EFCC) for interrogation and possible prosecution.


The officials (names withheld), were also ordered to hand over to the most senior staff in their respective institutions.


Despite being directed to proceed on indefinite suspension without salary and pension, Governor Okorocha’s government is bent on getting the alleged officials to refund every ‘kobo’ they misappropriated.

The Imo Governor, who is keen to bring all offenders of the law to book, also demanded the files of all those who either falsified their dates of birth or length of service for “proper disciplinary action.”


Okorocha, who had recently sought Ndigbo’s support for President Buhari, was recently granted a N20billion loan by the federal government for the completion of on-going infrastructure development projects and for new development projects in the state.
