The poor position of the Falcons can be attributed to the abysmal performance of the team at the All Africa Games where they failed to win any medals and their failure to qualify for next year’s Olympics in Rio, Brazil.

The Falcons who are being handled by caretaker coach Chris Danjuma played seven matches in total in September.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles retained its 53rd spot on the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola world rankings released by the world football governing body three weeks ago.
