Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari has asked pharmaceutical companies for more consideration in reducing the cost of anti-retroviral drugs through production of generic items.

President Buhari made the appeal at a side event at the 70th United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States, which was organised by the National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA).
The president urged world leaders and the UN-AIDS to work together with Nigeria to make HIV and AIDs history by the year 2030, ThisDay reports.

According to the president, HIV as a public health challenge had caused havoc and untold hardship in virtually every part of the world for over 30 years.
President Buhari on Thursday, September 24, landed at the JFK international airport in NewYork for the 70th assembly of the United Nations.
On the agenda of the president’s talks and interactions with the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki Moon, President Barack Obama of the United States, President Francois Hollande of France and others will be domestic developmental issues, bilateral relations, the war against terrorism, countering violent extremism etc.
