13 Political Parties Pick Dickson As Sole Candidate

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa second terms bid has received a boost with his adoption as sole candidate by 13 political parties for the December 5 gubernatorial poll.

The parties under the auspices of Inter-Party Advisory Council and Conference of Nigerian Political Parties made this announced on Thursday, September 24 in Yenagoa.


The parties who adopted Governor Dickson are KOWA, PPA, AA, Accord Party, UPN, APA, YDP, HDP, ACNP, NNPP and Independent Democrat.


According to the state chairman of New Nigerian Peoples Democratic Party, Inko Namatebe,  governor was picked because of his leadership qualities, The Punch reports.

Namatebe added that governor did well in his first term in office saying it is only right to be given the opportunity to complete the good work he has started.


He said: “One of the things that Governor Dickson has delivered on is security.He has put in place a framework for data gathering in an organised and empirical manner in crime.


Namatebe highlighted areas that Dickson has performed well in infrastructure, tourism, human capacity development, education and diversification of the state economy.


Others are promotion of good governance, judiciary, transport, agriculture, power and sports development.

He said: “If one person in a single administration is able to achieve these developmental strides, what else do Bayelsans want if not to return our governor for a second term?


“We urge all and sundry to support Dickson for a second term in office because Bayelsa will remain in safe hands.



In a related development, delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party  had thrown their weight behind Governor  Dickson endorsing him as sole party candidate.


The delegates’ endorsement come as the party set to hold its primary on September 24.  It was reported that the decision to endorse the governor for second term by the party 250-delegate was taken at the residence of Diepreye Alamieyeseigha who had been championing for the re-election bid of the governor.
