‘PDP Didn’t Offer Me N700m Bribe’ – Rivers REC

Rivers state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Gesila Khan has dismissed the allegation of bribe to the tune of N700 million leveled against her  by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state as false.

The Sun reported that the Rivers REC said that she did not receive any money from anybody. She said this through her lawyer, Selekeowei Larry SAN in Abuja.


Khan challenged the APC to produce the statement of account where the alleged money was lodged.

She stated that she did not take sides as the state electoral umpire adding that her conducts were in accordance with the extant law of the land.


Khan described the allegation of bribe taking as baseless and ridiculous saying it is an attempt to drag her good name into the mud.


Th Rivers REC frowned at journalists for the haste in the published of the statement that the she took bribe from the PDP without waiting to get the statement of account showing evident of the alleged fund.

“I have never collected bribes from anyone. I don’t have any such money in my account and I challenge the APC, or anyone who has my bank account containing that sum of money to produce it,” she added.


Khan said rather than receiving commendation for a serving her country, she is being mollified unjustifiably.


The APC in the state while reacting to the probe of Khan by the Department of State Services had in a statement challenged the state REC to explain the source of N700 million allegedly found in her account by security operatives.
