President Muhammadu Buhari has recalled Nigerian non-career ambassadors in foreign countries in an attempt to reposition national foreign policies.
According to The Punch, Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, confirmed the information saying:
“Yes, I can confirm to you that non-career ambassadors have been recalled by the Federal Government.”

Homeland News adds that based on the new directive the order comes into effect starting from August 6. From now on and up to this date non-career diplomats are expected to brief their hosts and carry out all exit formalities.
Meanwhile Buhari is said to be getting prepared for his official visit to the United States, where he will meet with Barack Obama to discuss the issues of terrorism and corruption. Based on the circulating reports, he will be accompanied by many top politicians, including five Nigerian governors.
